New Forum News Feeds

Post by Mike »

We have updated to version 3.0.6 of the forum software today. The observant of you will notice the RSS feed button in the website address bar. When you are in a particular forum you now have the option to subscribe to the forum news feed. Hopefully it will help people keep up to date on their most viewed forums now!

If you are not used to RSS readers you might want to use Google Reader and Netnewswire combo to keep your feeds synced and in good order. You will also notice RSS buttons on all news websites and most blogs.

Let me know if you have any problems since the update.

I have just noticed that Safari and Internet Explorer puts the RSS button in different locations. In IE it looks like this:

On Safari it looks like this (number 5):

If you click on the little down arrow or the grey RSS button it will then take you to a list. On the list click on 'Feed - Atherton and District Amateur Photographic Society'. This will give you links to posts that are on all subscribable forums.

Any / all feedback welcome!

I have seen this button on various sites etc but never dared to click on it because I did not know what it did. Sounds like it may be worth a try playing around with it.

RSS Feeds/ATOM Feed's dont show up in some Browsers though

Maybe add a little RSS Icon to the bottom of the Forum so all users know there is a Live Feed?

The only Browser I use is Google Chrome, and it doesn't house a RSS Feature, and that will also mean neither does Googles Operating System!

Google Chrome dosent even have the ability to code XML (Which is what an RSS Feed is) into a readable format
