ok so I'm not about to pass out and fall asleep so I should be about coherent enough to reply to you all now =D
Thankyou so much! I'm glad you liked the photos I posted!
And Tracey - I chose to focus on what I ended up terming 'hitchcock horror' rather than gore and blood purely because I felt that nowadays blood and gore just isn't that scary anymore - it doesn't scare, it just repulses and turns people away. The 'horror' that is more psychological and gets inside your head to freak you out I find the most intriguing and gives me the strongest visual pallette to work with. To have someone look at the photo and be left that little bit uneasy or have that shiver run down their spine, and to not be able to shake that feeling for a while after they stop looking at the image - THEN it's effective and done its job lol. Horror photography has a slightly different way of doing it but just like any photography the aim is often (at least in my case) to try and make an image that is unforgettable/iconic enough to imprint into someone's mind. Horror is a useful and interesting aspect of doing so.
(Hope that made enough sense! lol)
But I don't just do the scary stuff I promise lol though like Theo mentioned.... submitting horror work for a competition would be rather fun =D
Sadly I lost the original full file of that gasmask girl photo when my old external HD died - I lost everything I'd shot up to june/july 2009. ='(
