Hi John,

I really like this image - the way that he is making eye to eye contact with the viewer but I'm not sure about his beak losing detail.

As I've said previously, I don't profess to have any expertise, I'm just giving my opinion as a 'lay person' as it were.

Best wishes.

They're very quizzical birds aren't they?

I agree with Ann about the beak - I know it's 'the rules' that the eyes are supposed to be sharp, but for me I wonder if it might not have been a more pleasing shot to look at had the beak been the point that was focussed on. Then we and the bird would have been looking at the same thing. Although I could be wrong, and it might have looked awful.

It has the 'cuteness' appeal, however when you get over this I'm left wanting to see a bit more of the animal.

You've tried to blur the background but it's still a bit too distracting for me.

The unsharp beak doesn't bother me.

Hi John
The lack of sharpness of the beak is slightly disconcerting but it is the distraction of the background that I find rather more difficult to accept. I would have preferred either sharpness throughout or much more blur of the background a it is I feel it is neither one thing or the other. Great expression though, he looks slightly drunk :-d
