Walter (PJ Boy)

You really are going to have to switch over to digital you know....! Why wait a year to see what you have taken when you can see in a second with a proper camera

Wait a year to see his results??? John Miller, Mark Dyson and I were with Walter that night and we saw that it takes him a year (approx) to to set up his camera and take a shot - and he calls that a 'grab shot'! :-)

Tracey, there is less than six months left so not long to go and that's just for the negative!

If you guys are happy just snapping away checking your histograms or white balance or whatever you do after every shot to see if it's in the 'bag' as it where - don't - stay with the scene and see what you would have missed when your eyes were divertd by the screen on the back of your camera. :-[

My work is considered and as Tom points out, time is taken in setting up - but it's not wasted time Tom, throughout - thinking of the exposure; filtration; direction of light; waiting for that moment when the clouds let that slither through to bring the scene to life, before the press of the cable release for that reassuring sound of the mirror lifting to set the moment forever. I know you remember that Tom, from our conversations about when photography was a pleasure to you.

Would you tell a painter in the field, or the coast, or wherever to take a digital snapshot and go home and produce a painting in the comfort of their own home - no you would not. Some things are just worth spending some time over - nothing more to say, except did you, Pammie and Ian stand in awe at the man with the 10x8 plate [camera that is for those not in the know, and hopefully on a wooden tripod] for the obvious passion for his art? :-d

Regards

Walter

Walter, don't rise to the bait, Good things come to them who wait. The tortoise won the race after all  I must admit the tortoise would be out of shot before you got the dark slide out
