Over the sea to Skye...

Post by keith richardson »

Hi everyone,
Well the holidays are over for another year, well for me at least.
This year I went to Skye and I would recommend it to anyone who owns a camera, and a stout pair of walking boots, and a large petrol tank for the driving.
The resultant images can be found from the link below for anyone who cares to take a look, although I am sure you will all come across some of these in this upcoming years round of competitions.

( and not an HDR in site..)
Unfortunately some of the panoramic shots don't come across too well due to site limitations.

Best regards, keith.

Stunning work Keith, I'm sure you'll do brilliantly in this seasons competitions with these images. Good luck - not that you need it, I think it will be the rest of us that needs the good luck now that we know what we are up against. ;-]

Best Wishes

Tracey

You are unquestionably the master of HDR at ADAPS. :D
Is this a change of direction for you, or did you simply feel that these images didn't need the HDR treatment?

I enjoyed looking through your gallery. I love Scotland and images of Scotland and I think you've done really well.
I've only been to Skye once and the weather wasn't brilliant, so didn't get anything like you got...

Hi,
Thank you Tracey for your kind and encouraging comments.
Apprently Paul we managed to hit a uncharacteristic sunny patch of weather that no doubt helped. Stories I heard beforehand made me expect the worst, and I was very glad just to come back with anything to show from the trip.
As for the HDR, like you suggested, these images didn't really warrant it, but i have also been having problems of late with this Olympus camera, ( which I mentioned in an earlier post ), with still prevents me from using a tripod on occasion.
But also when I do manage it, I find that the Photomatix program doesn't really have the same compatibility with Olympus Raw files as it used to with the ones from the old Kodak I used to use, and the results aren't all that impressive of late,
unless I am just becoming jaded.. :?

Anyway thanks for you comments, and I would recommend without hesitation that everyone makes a trip there at some point, on the off chance that the weather is kind to you.

regards, keith.
