panasonic g1

Post by mark dyson »

Does anyone own or have used the Panasonic G1 that could give my any info. Reviews online are very favorable but would like advice from any users from ADAPS.
I need to rational my equipment as its getting a bit silly which camera to leave behind. I can get an adaptor for the G1 so I can use my Leica R lenses so I can take 2 small bodies for film and digital that use the same lenses.

Don't do it! After all we have discussed you still want to serve two Masters?!
And I thought you were to be true to the wet and dark side of things.
You will want to be trading up your PC next and swapping your light meter for a colour monkey.

How that's taking things to far  . The G1 is a csc camera so I am going smaller and lighter but using quality lenses. I have just had a thought I will get the crop factor of 2x, so its 70mm, 100mm and 270mm. This is not a good combination so I will have to have a rethink.

Mark, I've had a quick go of one and was really impressed, however, it was just smaller than a small dslr. I also couldn't justify the price, so ended up buying an Olympus e-pen instead. In the Olympus, the image stabilizer is in the body, but in the Panasonic, it's in the lens. From what I know of you, I don't think IS is high on your list.

I know someone who did some gig photography for me who uses one, I can but you in touch with. Looking at his photos, you wouldn't know what camera he'd used.
