I just wanted to say that although Walter's presentation last night was short and sweet, I really enjoyed it. I particularly liked the discussion it created at the end, it was nice to hear the questions raised and comments from the other members. In my view it made the whole evening more enjoyable.

Re: Walter Brook's Presentation
Thanks Tracey, went quicker than I thought it might and whilst any of us can probably talk all night about our favourite topics and could have regarding buidlings/ architecture ... I know what it's like when presentations go on too long ... thought the discussion was helpful also. Regards

Re: Walter Brook's Presentation
I to enjoyed Walters talk, although I got the impression that he knows a lot more about the subect than he let on.
I would like to have seen some old pictures of the area, as the social history of Manchester and Salford is immense.
I did some family history in Salford and was staggard to find a census return for my family showing 26 people living in a terraced house, only when the curator pointed out to me that there were two families living in the house to share the rent that I realised how sad the situation was.
Thanks to my research, I now know that I come from a long line of paupers.
Walter, I think we are justified in requesting the rest of the photos soon.

Re: Walter Brook's Presentation
Thanks for you kind remarks Harry. The presentation was significantly cut down from what was in my City and Guilds Portfolio. Terraced housing was just one of the topics. In there also, were sections on Manchester Warehouses, Churches and Public Houses ... many of which have by now disappeared or converted; a comparative study of Manchester and Salford architecture by Albert Waterhouse and Thomas Worthington with photographic examples; a history of the architectural periods from Norman times up to date ... oh, and of course a portfolio of photographs. A pet subject of mine since secondary school days ... but not for everybody of course.
Regards
Walter
