you couldn't make it up...
Imagine if you will a photographic competition that decided to find 100 images that best illustrated Britain, using 'iconic' images that summed up Britain and the British people. There are hundreds of Nikon cameras as prizes and the competition will be decided by a public vote and by a panel of celebrity judges.
Very nice you might think, could be worth a look.
But then it gets even better you find that you dont even have to enter your own pictures. In fact all you need to do is find an image using a search engine and if you think it fits the bill then you just put your name on it and enter it to win a prize.
It even says in the rules that the pictures have to categorically not be yours but have to be found by you using the websites own search engine.
Unbelievable you might think, but step forward Microsoft and their own Live Search competition, iconicbritain.
I have received an email from http://www.Photodimensions.co.uk who have a small library of my photographs, asking if I can check the site at http://www.iconicbritain.co.uk to see if any of my pictures have been entered without my knowledge and if there are and I ask microsoft nicely they will then consider removing it from the competition.
After complaints by Pro-imaging about the intellectual rights of photographers Nikon have now withdrawn their support, but it might still be worth everyone keeping an eye on this site to see if and when the final images are posted for judging by members of the public that your pictures aren't included.
regards, keith.

Re: Iconic Britain competition
Nice to see madness still exists in the competition world. Do you think they would of used the final images as publicity for themselves and paid the photographer huge sums of money for its use. LOL
Not that any of my images are iconic enough.
People could of just gone on epz and broused around that for a while and found numerous images. Daylight robbery. Now you know why paul always puts copyright all over his pictures.
