I don't do Black & White

Post by Theo Dibbits »

But with all the snow around I could not help but have a play.
Note the black border to stop the picture "bleeding " out. With last month's judge that may have moved it from a 4 to a 4.5 :-d :-d :-d :-d

Well this judge would improve on that score Theo!

I like the composition and the tonal values, but just find the colour and border to be a bit heavy. I'd reduce the colour intensity to make it more subtle and also reduce the width of the black line. For an image say 800-1000 pixels wide I would tend to use a 4px wide line. I know it's a matter of taste, but it will change the overall character of the image.

I think you should consider doing more black and white - you might get hooked on it.
Best regards

Theo I would like it better without the colour and I agree with John on the width of the black border. Less is more, so may be just a little tweaking on the image ...
