Re: Nice little find on the web's
Hmmm, Says its a sandisk ultra 2 but only shows class 4 on the item. The 2 ordinary (not usb) class 4, 4Gb sandisk cards it advertises are £13.95. 7Dayshop are advertising that pair for £11.98, so hardly a bargain, and P&P is free with 7Dayshop. Most pc's and Mac's come with built in card reader...

Depth of field in a portrait, the groom is actually sat next to her. 135mm prime at f/3.5, 1/2000sec shutter. The nice bokeh of this lens also hides the fact that this was taken in the beer garden of one of Atherton's not to salubrious pubs

Re: Nifty Fifty (Canon 50mm f1.8)
Philip, Test results aren't everything, but the 50mm f/1.8 is rather soft at the larger apertures, as are many lenses. http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/150/cat/10 Click on the blur index and move the f/stop slider to see its at f/4 before your are at its sweet-ish spot. Its sli...

Re: picking a video camera
Theo, Some camcorders will come with software for making videos usually the light version of a program like adobe premier elements which is normally older and has cut down facilities. As John says there are loads on amazon and there will be free ones. I used Serif Movieplus on Windows, but now with ...

Re: picking a video camera
John, Have used my 550D at weddings for small amounts of video, think they will do about 30 mins worth at one go, but never tried for anywhere near that time, so dont know how hot it gets, does need a high speed sdhc card. Just in passing i'm using a 7dayshop.com £29.99 in car video HD recorder at w...

Theo,
An ideal opportunity to get a 600D dslr, meets all the requirements and you could use it as a back up camera lol, oh and you could use all those nice lenses you have.. Utube also has many reviews of camcorders eg,

Re: Dead Canon 400D
Hi Tracey, You went all the way to Africa without a backup - only joking, but a 400D is probably only worth around £200 with the standard kit lens, when its working, ( I sold my copy for £275 at xmas, with extras battery grip etc). Time for a new one, full frame are a bit pricey and as stated any ef...

Re: White balance NOT JPEG v RAW
Hi, Put this on one of my websites, a few years old now, but some may find it interesting, not only about different light sources, but the colours emitted by lights and how shutter speed can also affect the resulting image. http://www.oakeycoke.co.uk/portraits.html You may need to turn your speakers...

Re: White Balance Tip
Hi John, Going to disagree slightly, whilst the camera will try to correct the light, this would be relevant if you are using the jpg settings, where the saved file has been altered by the camera and is difficult to correct later. If you use jpg and not raw then 'daylight' can be appropriate, likewi...

Re: Query re Fuji Finepix HS10
Ann, Reference posting images to the forum, read John's advise at the top of the 'Images' section this link http://www.adapsuk.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=617 will take you there. Basically images should only be 800 pixels wide and less than 200Kb in size. You will need to use some software o...
