Re: Atherton Library
When they move perhaps there will be a little more room as it is a very cramped space in which to display. The photographs still looked good though & there were a few people in there waiting for their children that were having a good look at them too, so they are being noticed.

Portrait Workshops have paid off...
Having seen the entries in tonights competition I feel sure that the number of portraits that made it through to 'the hall of fame' makes those portrait workshops worthwhile. The comments from the judge on the standard of portrait photography must surely prove the worth of those workshops too. It se...

Re: The Tom & KT Show
I wouldn't mind a sows ear right now.. at least it means that I managed to keep the beast still.. lmho.. always assuming it was recognisable as a sows ear of course.. In this case I think even sow's ears are relevant to capabilities.. as with all things. I'm just doing the 'baby steps' thing and try...

Re: The Tom & KT Show
I think I'm gonna pass on next Saturday after all... I'm not ready for photoshop & I certainly can't afford to buy it... lmao.. I'll concentrate on learning how to use the camera properly & getting some reasonable photos first. That's why I joined the club & one step at a time is enough ...

Re: 'On the Beach' - FEEL FREE TO COMMENT
One thing I've learned in my three visits to the Thursday night meets.... never.. but NEVER take a photograph purely for the judges thinking it will win. There may be guidelines for them to follow, but they aren't carved in stone and at times they forget things. Of my visits... The first week was th...

Re: Beginners Workshop
Something I've found is that you can read too much. Everyone has their own theories on how to do things and you end up even more confused than you were to start with. I seem to have consumed vast amounts of information from websites, magazines etc., and in the end the result was information overload...

Re: Beginners Workshop
I'd like to add my thanks to 'the team' who gave up their Saturday morning too, it was very much appreciated. I must say that more along the same lines would be very welcome, nudge-nudge. I think all who went along learned something to their advantage and the number that turned up proved it wasn't g...

Re: Filters - How do I tell ......
Reasoning is planning a trip with son as he wants to have a go at photos of water .. not sure when it's going to be but a couple of cheap filters to experiment with wont hurt. He's got this thing at the mo where he's after trying to photograph the elements... & when he comes up to visit it's a b...

Filters - How do I tell ......
As filters seem to be in sizes such as 52mm, 58mm etc, where should I be looking to find out what size I need. I currently only have the lens that came with the camera as a kit, it's a Canon EOS 450D with an 18-55mm lens, & am looking around for both a UV & Polarised filter. I've found this ...

Hmmmm.. now I understand a lot better why his 'stuff' is being watched after visiting that link. In only a little over 12 months he's certainly got his head around what he's doing that's for sure... still a lot to learn, by his own admission, but he's developing his own style within his chosen subje...
